Face to CT Alignment

How to align facial scan data to CT data

Semi-automatic alignment between facial scan and CT

Instruction

Step 1

Click the [Align] button in the main menu to start the alignment mode.

Step 2

The face scan model is set on the Source menu and CT volume on the Target menu. After selecting the Landmark on the Initial Option, click the Run button to start the landmark-picking mode.

Quick Guide

The source data would be aligned to the target data.

Step 3

For accurate face scan alignment, alter the rendering options by selecting the SKIN mode from the extended menu of the CT volume.

Step 4

Select the landmark on each data point in the source view (top right) and target view (bottom right). In this case, it is recommended that the corresponding landmarks be selected at identical locations in both the datasets.

It is feasible to move or delete created landmarks after selection. When the landmark is added or modified, the preview (left) is updated in real time.

After the landmark selection is completed, click the Apply button, and start the fine alignment process.

Quick Guide

Because the skin tissue is easily altered, it is recommended to select landmarks in areas where there is minimum variation and to start fine alignment when initial alignment is good in the preview.

Step 5

After fine alignment, the results of the aligned CT volume and face scan data can be obtained.

The alignment of two data sets can be examined in more detail on the 2D slice view. (Dual view, Horizon view, Tile view)
