Landmark based Alignment

How to align upper or lower teeth to the bite scan data

Semi-automatic alignment between meshes (Occlusion Alignment)

Quick Guide

You can experience 3Dme Studio Tutorial-Alignment by downloading sample data.

Instruction

Step 1

Press the [Align] in the Main menu, and start the alignment mode.

Step 2

Set the upper teeth and bite data on the Source and Target menus, respectively.

Then, select the Landmark mode in the Initial Option, and press the Run button to start the landmark picking mode.

Quick Guide

The source data would be aligned to the target data.

Step 3

After proceeding to the landmark picking mode, select the corresponding landmarks on the source view (top right) and target view (bottom right) in each set of data.

In this case, it is recommended that the landmarks be selected at an identical location in both the datasets to the extent feasible.

It is feasible to move or delete the created landmarks after selection. When the landmark is added or modified, the preview window on the left is updated in real time.

After selecting the landmarks, click the Apply button, and start the fine alignment process.

Quick Guide

It is recommended to select at least THREE landmarks each and perform fine alignment with the source and target aligned appropriately in the preview.

Step 4

If alignment is performed similarly as in Step 2~3, the lower teeth scan data can be aligned to the bite scan data. If required, the aligned model can be exported using the Export function.
